• The eligibility conditions given below are the absolute minimum. Departments may prescribe any requirements over and above these, subject to the approval of the SPGC.
• The specified minimum marks/CPI (Cumulative Performance Index), referred to in subsequent sections, implies a minimum of 55 percent marks /5.5 (on a 10 point scale) as long as it is not less than the minimum pass marks/CPI; otherwise, the specified minimum marks/CPI implies the minimum pass marks/CPI.
• The number of admission that can be made to any programme shall be as decided by the Senate from time to time.
• Reservations (for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PD shall apply as per Government of India rules. The certificate for the same must be in the format specified.

• Start date for online submission of completed Application Form : March 28, 2014.
• Last date for online submission of completed Application Form : April 14, 2014 (4:00 P.M.)

• If you have BE/BTech degree with 75% marks(If you got grade then convert to % according institute rules) from Centrally Funded Technical Institute then you eligible for direct admission in PhD without GATE score.
• Only Applicants, who have submitted their complete application can login and check the status. You may also contact respective department for the status of your Application.
• The last date of submitting application is 14-April-2014 (4:00 PM). The application fee of Rs. 400/ for candidates in General/OBC and Rs. 200/ for SC/ST/PD must be paid through demand draft payable to The Registrar IIT Kanpur at Kanpur. (Note: Send original) Please keep ready demand draft before PG Online application filling.

Online Registration process

The Online Registration process requires the candidate to first register on this website with a userid and password. His/Her user id and password confirmation will be sent to the applicant by E-mail intimation.
The online application process is divided into nine sections, for convenience, as follows.

• Section 5 : B. Qualifying Exam Details (Already Obtained / In progress)
• Section 5 : C. Other degrees (After 10+2 and not Qualifying degree)
• Section 5 : D. Work Experience details
• Section 6 : Area of Specialization in the Department/Program
• Section 7 : Name and Addresses of Two Referees from whom letter of reference have been obtained (Only for Ph.D. Applicant)
• Section 8 : Upload Photograph
• Section 9 : Final submission

Photograph : A recent passport size clear front facial photograph (Size 3 cm x 4 cm) of the candidate. To upload your Photograph use Browse button to select the .jpg or .png file and press Submit. The file should not be more than 20KB. The uploading of photograph is not mandatory. You may also staple the photograph upon printing the filled application form.

The candidate has to enter the mandatory fields denoted by * in each section for filling the application.Once the candidate is satisfied about the correctness of the information filled in, the candidate can confirm it by pressing the confirm button. No changes can be made after confirmation.

On confirmation, the website will allot a unique Reference Number to the candidate. The Reference Number will be required for any future communication with IIT Kanpur. The application will be identified solely by this number.

After confirmation, the candidate may take a printout of his/her full application which will be displayed in .pdf format and the status of the application is "Submitted".

Please send printed copy of your Online filled application form with self attested photocopies of following documents. Please mention reference number on each documents :

• Date of Birth (DOB) Certificate or High School (Class 10) Certificate with DOB
• SC/ST/OBC Certificate if applicable
• Certificate of Physical Status (Type of disability to be attached)
• Sponsorship Certificate for Sponsored Candidate
• GATE/CSIR/UGC/ICMR/CEED/Other Fellow Exam Score card (If you have not received GATE score card then please send printout of the online GATE score card.)
• Photocopies of qualifying degree marks/grade sheets
• No Objection/relieving Certificate from Employer (For employed candidates at the time of admission)
• The application fee of Rs. 400/ for candidates in General/OBC and Rs. 200/ for SC/ST/PD must be paid through demand draft payable to The Registrar IIT Kanpur at Kanpur. (Note: Send original)
• If photograph is not loaded, then write reference number at the back of the self attested passport size photograph and staple it on the application form.
